I live on what is fondly referred to as the Eastern Plains outside of Colorado Springs. Yes it's out where the antelope roam! For the city dwellers the line is drawn at the Powers Corridor but for those of us needing just a little more space it's the wide open plains east of the city that attract us. The drive into town is usually filled with expansive views of the Front Range, wildlife, even those amazing lightning storms.
On one recent early morning commute I was sipping on my usual cup of coffee enjoying the morning light changing the Rockies from purple to bright blue, when I noticed a couple of our local balloonists enjoying an early morning flight from the city to the landing zones in the plains. What a backdrop the Rockies and Pikes Peak provided! I just had to pull the car over and enjoy this Kodak moment remembering why I chose to move to the amazing state of Colorado. From the hustle and bustle of everyday life don't forget to stop and enjoy the beauty around you!
