It's not all about self promotion with generation Y, but what I offer and where to find me and I better be on the latest social media sites. Speed of response is critical to this group as well and I mean responding in a nanosecond. A New York minute won't cut the mustard anymore!
Staying hip is cool and I can arrive in jeans and my jeep because I'm being judged on my availability, knowledge, coaching, integrity, and honest communications. They do want my help and appreciate my experience and expertise. They are not easily impressed with a Lexus and suit.
Green homes are enticing, unconventional is intriguing, and financially savvy a must. Urban living is appealing and cookie cutter neighborhoods are not. I find this group incredibly refreshing, challenging, spontaneous, and fearless. A fixer upper is not to be disqualified as a potential.
Although they have been tagged as fickle and disloyal, I find that pertains more to a work environment rather than a business- social relationship. I have fiercely loyal generation Y's in my sphere and love to work with each and every one of them and appreciate the referrals to their peers. This generation is the future of my business and understanding their needs and desires is just one more way to provide the kind of customer service that I want to be branded as providing for my clients here in Colorado Springs.
