The Aspens are Turning, the Aspens are Turning, Here in Colorado!

It's time to pack a picnic and head to the hills to see the aspens change color here in ColoradoLate September to mid October is the best time to see the fall colors change in the Rocky Mountains.  The challenge is to try to outwit old man winter and pick a weekend to drive one of the scenic highways or take a hike on one of the thousands of gorgeous trails, before the leaves turn brown or fall from the first winter blast.

One of the most beautiful places to view the fall colors is the Rocky Mountain National Park just outside of Estes Park, Colorado.  Besides the beautiful hiking and driving through the park, one can enjoy a good meal in town and visit the interesting shops before many of them start to close for the winter.

If looking for a scenic drive just a little closer to Colorado Springs, highway 67 to Cripple Creek is a favorite and the display of fall colors is magnificent.  There is no shortage of places to view the aspens turning and its well worth the effort to head to the hills for a glimpse of Colorado gold before our first layer of winter white.

This is also a great time of year to visit the Rocky Mountain National Park to hear the elk bugle and see the bulls before they lose their beautiful racks.
